Ky Meeks is the powerhouse woman behind the brand Conscious Craves. She’s one of those woman who seem to juggle a million things at once, creating amazing whole foods and snacks, a plant-based eatery and helping you out with an alternative to big chain supermarkets with her whole foods store at the Shed Markets in Busselton, all the while staying grounded and managing to fit in a bush walks with her adorable dog Brutus and plenty of ocean time in her now home-town of Yallingup WA. Despite her busy schedule, she has kindly put down some of her thoughts and wisdom on how she pulls in all together.

AR – What does your morning routine look like?

KY – I like to start my day by acknowledging my dog, that’s the first thing I do, wake up and give him a big fat kiss on his forehead! For myself, I like to start the day by hydrating. I’ll probably drink around 500ml to a liter of water every morning, I’ll add in lemon or turmeric and then follow it up with an herbal tea. Then I’ll try my best to sit down and meditate for about 20mins in the morning do some light stretching some breathing exercises.

AR – Why is morning a routine important to you?

KY – Taking time in the morning is really important for me because I feel like it sets me up for the rest of the day. Running my own businesses, Conscious Craves Foods, the Conscious Craves Whole Foods Store at the Shed Market in Busselton and recently just opening up Conscious Eats, a plant-based smoothie and taco shop in Dunsborough, I know I’ve always got a really big day ahead of me so I feel like starting off the day doing those things really sets me up for a calm and productive day.

AR – You sure do have a lot on your plate, It’s amazing! Apart from your morning routine how else do you stay grounded with so much going on?

KY – I feel like there is so much stimulation going on in the world that we live in that it’s hard to stay grounded and focused on what it is we’re meant to do and why we’re here as individuals and I think in the big scheme of things everyone wants to create and give and just do something authentic for themselves.
For me, another way I try to stay grounded and connected to myself is by writing in the mornings if I have the time or in the evenings and slipping into some guided meditations whenever I can.
All of those kinds of tools can really help us tap into our innate power as humans. I believe we’re here to change the world and that we are here to give back to the earth and to give to one another and by creating that self-awareness through giving yourself time and space we end up bringing satisfaction to our own lives and others.

AR – You’re clearly passionate about self-awareness and using that as a tool to help others, what helps you stay focused and on track.

KY – It’s all about the small choices for me. I truly believe we create our own destiny, so creating and manifestation, all of these things, that is our power as humans! Everyone has a right to tap into that and the great thing is it’s all in our hands! So by waking up in the morning and choosing the right things for ourselves, creating healthy habits and routines, just simple things like going to bed earlier and waking up earlier so that we don’t have to always be rushing, those simple tools can help us work and perform at our best so we can give our best to ourselves and those around us.
